HISTORY OF SINGING Ministry: 1981 - PRESENT

1979-1980
I committed my life to Christ at the Praise in the Rockies Music Seminar in Estes Park, Colorado, and subsequently my voice and music to service for God's Kingdom. That fall I transferred to Colorado State University as a voice major where I landed the leading role of Sky Masterson in CSU's production of GUYS AND DOLLS. I sang that year for Solid Rock, a six voice contemporary group that was a part of "CSU Fellowship". This was my first real exposure to Christian music.

1980-1981
I transferred to Taylor University in Upland, Indiana, and was selected that fall to sing bass in the University sanctioned group, The Morning Star Singers. We traveled coast to coast for 7 months as ambassadors for Taylor by singing concerts in churches, schools, and other gatherings, including Governor's Island in New York city, festivals in the Northeast, up and down the coast of California and more.  My father passed away just as the tour began but the brotherhood of these other five guys was monumental to me. They provided encouragement, humor, and God's light! I also met my wonderful wife, Dawn, while on this trip!

1983-84
I finished up school at Taylor University one year after Dawn and I were married. We moved to Broomfield, Colorado, and set up
our full-time solo music ministry. Dawn assumed the role of sound engineer. Concerts and meetings came slowly. Our first booking did not occur for nearly four months, but then it was as though God opened the flood gates. We traveled to Utah, Kansas, Nebraska, Nevada, and California to sing and minister.  We certainly saw the hand of God during these special months, including our 8 hour trek across the California and Arizona desert with no AC in our brand new Subaru! It was during this trip, however, that I sensed I needed to know God better. I began checking out seminaries and Dawn and I selected Ashland Seminary in Ohio. During the summer months, we lived in a campground just outside of Cadiz, Ohio, where I was  the summer Chaplain at a private campground. Dawn worked concessions at the beach. As seminary commenced that Fall, I was able to continue to sing frequently on the weekends at various churches until hired by Church of the Savior in Wooster, Ohio, as choir director. My first full-length recording, Rough & Made of Wood was recorded in Denver. Over 40 programs are conducted this year.

1985
In late December, 1985, I began full-time ministry at Mansfield Christian School in Mansfield, Ohio, as the GM for WVMC-FM. The music ministry continued on fairly regular basis. During this year I was able to complete recording #2, a four-song demo recorded at Gaither Studios in Indiana. We became members of Berean Baptist Church.

1986-1990
During this time, I was blessed with many opportunities to sing at churches in Ohio and Indiana, primarily, while in ministry full-time at Mansfield Christian. I  completed my MA in Christian School Administration from Grace Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana, recorded my third album project, Hymns and Other Favorites" (FTM in Denver), and our first child, a boy, Kelly, was born (March, 1990).

1992-1996
After the birth of twin boys, Hobie and Skyler (July, 1991), we moved back to Colorado. There I became the afternoon drive announcer and
music director for Christian radio KWBI-FM (a ministry of Colorado Christian University). We also called Foothills Bible Church our home where I was actively involved in music and drama, including a 6 month stint as their interim music director. As a result of the ministry on air, concerts and special singing opportunities seemed to come easily. These were blessed months in music, for sure, I recorded project #4, "Made for Praise" at FTM Studios again, but with my new (and now life-long) producer, Brian Ehrhardt, who recorded all the tracks. Brian's love for Christ and his one-of-a kind ability to sing, play and produce with excellence, has perhaps been the single greatest ministry relationship I have enjoyed all these years. In addition, he and his lovely wife, Loretta are two very close relatives in the LORD! Check out Brian and Loretta by visiting their website, www.notbysightmusic.com and learn what makes this man of God so unique in the work he does! I sang my first of 5 national anthems for the Colorado Rockies ('94, '96, '97, '99, '00), and also opened for Dave Boyer and Ralph Carmichael at Saturday Nights in Denver (left and below).

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS
Fifth recording project, The Cross Reminds Me (2000). Numerous singing opportunities continued to present themselves from special music to full programs. I have been blessed to travel and sing in over 30 states from coast to coast. My goal is to continue to be used of God as He permits, singing wherever He opens the doors.
